Are you a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) looking to start clinical  supervision hours towards your LCSW in Texas?

Hi, I'm Dayana Zamora, a Board certified LCSW-Supervisor in Texas offering virtual group sessions to social workers located throughout the state. To ensure that services are accessible to as many people as possible, I have 6 virtual groups on different days and at different times. This allows participants to choose a group based on their schedule and availability. Two  tracks to choose from:
  • Group session can have up to 6 participants and lasts for 2 hours, with sessions occurring twice per month. If you are working full-time, you can expect to schedule 4 hours per month for these sessions.
  • Group session can have up to 6 participants and lasts 1 hour, with sessions occurring weekly. If you are working full-time, you can expect to schedule 4 hours per month for these sessions.

To complete supervision participating social workers must meet for a total of 100 hours in a period of 2  years. During this time, it is required that participants are employed and work at least 30 hours per week to be able to complete the supervision process in, or close to, 24 months.

The Texas State Board of Social Worker has determined that your job description needs to include the following criteria to qualify for clinical supervision in Texas: if you assess, diagnose and treat mental health or substance abuse issues using DSM-V TR criteria for at least four hours per week, you are eligible for LCSW supervision. Don’t get too concerned about diagnosis. In many agencies, it is the physicians, psychiatrists, or independently licensed mental health professionals who diagnose clients or patients. If you’re using a diagnostic skill set and/or screening tools when working with clients, you are fulfilling this requirement.

I have extensive experience supervising social workers employed in a wide range of  settings, including behavioral health/medical hospitals, shelters, hospice, schools, dialysis clinics, CPS, non-profits, insurance companies, EAP programs, and private practice. As long as you have client interactions and utilize clinical skills, you meet the LCSW supervision criteria.
During group supervision, social workers typically present cases for conceptualization, which includes understanding the DSM-V TR, different therapeutic modalities, psychotropic medications, and preparation for the LCSW clinical exam. Additionally, group supervision addresses imposter syndrome, establishing professional boundaries, identifying your inner strengths, developing your therapeutic style, and implementing self-care strategies to ensure that participants are well-equipped to provide high-quality care to their clients. My extensive experience and comprehensive approach to supervision makes me an excellent choice for social workers seeking to enhance their clinical skills, gain valuable insights, and advance their careers in the field of social work. With my guidance and support, you will develop a deeper understanding of your clients' needs and improve your ability to provide effective interventions. My dedication to the field of social work makes me an invaluable resource for anyone looking to grow and succeed in this challenging and rewarding profession!
