If you're wondering whether you need therapy, it's important to remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Many individuals question the significance of their problems, thinking, "My issues aren't that serious." However, if you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or struggling with relationships, it may be beneficial to explore counseling. Don't hesitate to reach out to us via the Contact page if you have more questions or need guidance on your journey.
How long are the counseling sessions?
Counseling sessions generally have a duration of approximately 45 to 55 minutes, which is the standard time frame for most appointments. It is common for individuals to schedule their sessions on a weekly basis or every other week, depending on individual needs and preferences. For those who are new our services, we strongly recommend beginning with weekly sessions. This approach allows for a more consistent support system, and we can adjust the frequency of meetings as necessary to ensure that you receive the best possible care and guidance throughout your journey.

Will my session be in-person or virtual?
Your counseling session will mainly take place online, utilizing a HIPAA-compliant video meeting platform or video call to ensure your privacy and security. In some instances, we may also conduct sessions via telephone call for your convenience. Our physical location is in Brownsville, Texas, and we are dedicated to providing you with a safe and accessible counseling experience that meets your needs.

We offer appointments Monday to Friday between 10AM to 5PM CT. You can view/schedule a session via Simple Practice portal.

Please complete all your electronic intake paperwork prior to the first session. This allows for us to dive right in and maximize the session.

What does a typical session look like?
As you prepare for your first appointment, it's important to know that we will take the time to address key aspects that will set the foundation for our work together. We will begin by discussing essential policies and consents, which include important information about your privacy and the cancellation process. This ensures that you feel secure and informed throughout your counseling journey. Next, we will engage in a comprehensive discussion about your presenting problem. This is your opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings, and I will be here to answer any questions you may have. I will also explain in detail what you can expect from the counseling process, so you feel fully prepared and empowered. Together, we will work on identifying your personal goals and developing a clear plan of action tailored to your needs. To make the most of our time together and dive right into the important work, please ensure that you complete all electronic intake paperwork prior to our session. This preparation allows us to maximize our time and focus on what truly matters to you.

How long will I need counseling for?
It is truly different for everyone. Some might benefit from 6 to 12 weeks of weekly therapy while others might prefer 6 month to 1 year. It can be more or less or anywhere in between.
It’s 100% up to you, and we are happy to give you input, provide feedback, share recommendation on what options are most beneficial for you. We will do our best to ensure that we are not wasting your time so you can maximize the effectiveness of therapy. Overall, we recommend new clients start with once a week or once every other week.

What is the cancellation policy?
To ensure that we can serve all our clients effectively, we kindly request that you provide at least 48 hours' notice if need to reschedule cancel your appointment. This notice allows us the opportunity to fill the vacant time slot with another person who may be waiting for an appointment. Be aware that if you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment or to show up, a charge to the original cost of the session will be applied to the card we have on file. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Do you write Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letters?
No, we do not provide this service or write these letters since this topic and matter is beyond our scope of practice.

Do you complete FMLA forms?
Dayana does complete FMLA documentation for clients who are receiving mental health services from their medical provider too. This helps to supplement the need for time off from work. There's an additional charge of $100 for completing documentation outside of the therapeutic session and there's no guarantee documentation will result in a favorable outcome.

I'll be traveling. Can I still receive therapy while I'm away?
If you are receiving therapy services from Dayana you need to be physically located in the states of Texas, Florida or Iowa. Dayana is only licensed to be able to deliver ethical and legal therapy services in those states.
